Dr. Julianne Malveaux Ph.D.

Dr. Malveaux is the Dean of College Ethnic Studies at Cal State Los Angeles and Chairs MEOA’s Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. She is an internationally known author, public speaker, and thought leader on how race, gender, and economics impact our country. Dr. Malveaux has served in several roles throughout her distinguished academic career, including as president of Bennett College in North Carolina and as faculty or visiting faculty at the New School for Social Research, San Francisco State University, University of California Berkeley, College of Notre Dame (San Mateo, California), Michigan State University and Howard University.

Dr. Malveaux also serves as a Senior Advisor at Cover Communications, a minority-owned strategic communications and public affairs firm, where she provides advice to CEOs and industry leaders on achieving their supplier/vendor diversity and talent acquisition goals. Her community service work includes serving as the Honorary Co-Chair of the Social Action Commission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and serving on the boards of the Economic Policy Institute, a think tank that conducts research and analyzes the economic impact of federal policies on minority communities.

 

Dr. Malveaux is a native of San Francisco, California, and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from MIT, a MA and BA from Boston College, and honorary degrees from Benedict College, Sojourner-Douglass College, and the University of the District of Columbia.
